Building Power in Parks: Notes from the World’s Park Community Design School

Fast-growing cities are straining, pushing on limited land options, and moving in on public spaces. Development has run amok in parks like Flushing Meadows in Queens, where even Mets stadium parking sits on park land. Neighbors have come together to block privatization schemes, but blocking is reactionary. How might we make these efforts proactive? We’re interested in ways communities can use design processes to posit alternatives for our common spaces.
