Bearded Flamingos: on ‘Passing’, ‘Migration’ and ‘Camouflage’

May 13, 2018
3:10  -  3:25
Main Atrium, First Floor, Queens Museum

Bearded Flamingos is a visual art and writing project, an exploration of strategies of survival (passing, migration and camouflage) through embodiment and recitation. How can the hegemonic conditions that center cisgendered heterosexual white men be reinvented (rather than reversed) to offer space to the augmented self, the bearded flamingo? How can such a reinvention, such an augmentation be sustained? ~bearded flamingos exist~bearded flamingos think they’re the shit~bearded flamingos are~
