A National Museum in the Heart of the Mexican Community

Commemorating 30 years of community organizing and activism, the National Museum of Mexican Art continues in the tradition of civic engagement and public arts education. We will cover the history since its founding in a working class Mexican neighborhood. Exhibitions include Memoria Presente, a group exhibit of Chicago artists; Time to Get Ready, photos by Maria Varela from the 1960s Civil Rights Movement to the Land Grant Movement; Hecho en CaSa, featuring Francisco Toledo, a politically engaged artists in Mexico.
